Longeing & Natural Horsemanship

Horsemanship Level II continues to build upon the skills and knowledge acquired in Level I through the use of Longeing and Natural Horsemanship.

Longeing is a valuable skill that is essential to every rider and has many uses, some of which are:

  • exercising a fresh, or too energetic horse before riding
  • teaching the horse to walk, trot, canter and halt by using subtle body motions and voice commands
  • longeing a rider to improve position and balance
  • starting a young horse
  • improving horse handling skills

Natural Horsemanship and join up
fosters understanding, respect and trust between the horse and handler with amazing results.  Once joined up the horse will follow the handler anywhere in the ring, even over obstacles, without the need of a halter and lead rope.  In this photo Brandi and Luna are both joined up with Maddie.
